I love oats. I use them in my produce so I can honestly say I have my ways of making Icelanders eat their oats!
While attending the the Nordic food conference in Helsinki, I learned a lot about oats! There were so many interesting things going on during the two days of the Nordic food conference, that I didn´t get the chance to attend all I wanted and therefore missed further discussions during Nordic oats.
Fortunately, we have the internet, so I´ll surely be reading up on it.
On the evening of the 10th – the night before the Nordic conference kicked off, there was a small informal gathering held at Bakers pub in downtown Helsinki.
There I met for example with people studying the benefits of oats and people growing oats in the Nordic countries.
We did a quiz on facts about oats which was both fun and informative.
I learned for example, how little of the oats production actually goes to human consumption.
Here are a few links where you can get more information on Nordic oat production.
